The roof structure of the Men’s Oratory of the Albergo dei Poveri in Genoa

The Genoese roof structures are characterized by the originality of their construction and technological solutions compared to other cultural geographical areas, including neighbouring ones, and, in particular, unique connection with underlying wall structures, thrusting nature scarce or non-existent presence trusses. From second half 16th century, roofs large spaces such as churches assembly halls, wooden elements main structure supported solid brick pillars resting on arches ribs vaulted structures.
